Bug: Contribute link on https://a11yproject.com/ sends you somewhere confusing.

Created by: suzannehillman

Summary

Brief description of the issue. Please identify specific steps.

  1. Go to https://a11yproject.com/
  2. Click on the "Contribute on Github" button.
  3. Be utterly confused as to what to do next.

Expected result

I would have expected it to either have opened up "https://github.com/a11yproject/a11yproject.com/blob/gh-pages/CONTRIBUTING.md" or (probably a better place to start) "https://github.com/a11yproject/a11yproject.com/blob/gh-pages/README.md"

Actual result

It sends you to the main github page, not a document that tells you what contributors can do. If you scroll down a lot, you get to the readme eventually, but it's not especially friendly to make people do that (especially not people who have to use screen readers!).

Additional Information

To help us try and reproduce the issue, please provide the following information:

  1. Laptop, but I doubt it matters.
  2. Windows 10, and I doubt it matters.
  3. Firefox 68.0.2 (64-bit), and see above.

Additional Information

Note anything else you think would be important to know that didn't fall into an above category.

I clicked on the current link and - as is often the case with github pages - find it strange that the first thing one sees on a github page is the files instead of a readme type page. Since it's possible to adjust that, why not do that?
