Compile instructions

I can't seem to find any concrete explanation in how to compile bootstrap yoruself.

I finally found about grunt dist but I'd like to know what I am doing and what are the options for someone who's not used to doing. I guess there was some documentation about it as the bootstrap homepage sends you to:

Which is now non-existent.
